Led by BALTIC artist, Sally Madge alongside staff from BALTIC and Northumbria University you will have the opportunity to consider, share, make and reflect within a supportive, creative and inspiring environment.

Inspired by BALTIC’s upcoming exhibition The Playground Project (15 July – 30 October 2016), this year’s Summer School will explore play; as an adult and as a child, the developmental, cultural and social importance of, and right to play alongside making space to be playful.

Including creative challenges, opportunities to explore BALTIC 39, practicing artists’ studio spaces and BALTIC's extensive library and archive, this course will offer encouragement, mentoring and reflective moments as well as the chance to work in-depth on your own pieces, receiving critique and feedback from artists, tutors and peers throughout.

The Summer School is suitable for teachers, artist educators, teaching assistants, facilitators and those with an interest in art and education. It forms an essential part of the MA Contemporary Arts and Education and is a great taster for those thinking about undertaking one of the MA's offered by BALTIC and Northumbria University.
