SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

The following opportunities are available to schools, colleges and universities.

Group visits
Schools, colleges and universities can visit BALTIC independently or take advantage of free introductory talks and guided tours. These last approximately 45 minutes and are available free of charge Tuesday to Friday at 10.00 and 13.00.

Groups visiting BALTIC independently can take advantage of the contemporary art teaching resources as well as the Library & Archive. Please contact BALTIC in advance to let us know when you are visiting.

Access tours, including BSL, are
available through the Education Team. Please email learning@balticmill.com to discuss your requirements


Artist-led studio sessions
BALTIC has a team of freelance artists who are available to lead practical sessions based on the exhibitions for schools, colleges and universities. These studio sessions can be half-day or full-day and can take place at BALTIC or at your school, college or university.

Work based placements
BALTIC works with schools, colleges and universities to offer well-structured, productive and relevant work based placements.

BALTIC offers three 1 week work based placement opportunities annually to regionally based school pupils. All school placements are with the Education Team. 

BALTIC supports 2 postgraduate placements per year as part of the University of Newcastle’s MA in Art Museum and Gallery Studies.

Occasionally BALTIC supports additional placements throughout the organisation. For further information email learning@balticmill.com

Teaching resources
BALTIC offers a range of flexible contemporary art resources as an introduction to BALTIC and the Exhibitions Programme. These resources are free to educational groups and can be used in BALTIC as well as within schools, colleges and universities for work following on from a visit.
